During the Spring Semester 2026, International School of Management and Economics, National Economics University – ISME@NEU, was honored to welcome nine international exchange students from France, Austria, Russia, Hungary, Poland, China, and Japan to study and experience student life at ISME.
As part of its development and internationalization strategy, ISME continuously promotes international student exchange programs, creating opportunities for students to study and engage in a multicultural and multinational learning environment while enhancing their global competencies.
Within this framework, on March 10, ISME@NEU organized a welcome meeting for the international students with the participation of the leadership board and faculty members. Held in a warm and friendly atmosphere, the meeting provided students with an overview of the academic programs, learning environment, and student life at ISME. At the same time, it created an initial opportunity for international students to connect with the ISME student community, helping them feel more confident as they began their academic and cultural integration journey.

Continuing the series of welcoming activities, an Orientation Day was organized on March 14 to provide international students with first-hand experiences of Vietnamese culture while strengthening their connections with ISME students through a variety of interactive activities. Duong Lam Ancient Village was selected as the destination due to its well-preserved traditional architecture and distinctive cultural characteristics of the Northern Vietnamese countryside. The location offered international students a direct and authentic introduction to Vietnamese culture and heritage.

During the visit, students explored several notable historical and cultural sites, including the Temple of Saint Son Tinh, Phung Hung Communal House, and the Ngo Quyen Temple. Through guided tours and stories associated with each site, students not only broadened their understanding of Vietnamese history and folk beliefs but also gained deeper insights into the country’s cultural identity.

The experience extended beyond observation, allowing students to actively engage in traditional cultural activities. Making “chè lam”, a traditional Vietnamese sweet, and decorating handcrafted products at the lacquer workshop of artisan Nguyen Tan Phat provided both exciting and memorable experiences. These hands-on activities enabled students not only to learn about Vietnamese culture but also to genuinely experience it through practice and participation.

Throughout the trip, the “Secret Angel” activity became a special highlight. Each international student was paired with an ISME student who quietly accompanied and supported them during the journey. This thoughtful initiative created pleasant surprises while fostering natural connections between students, helping international participants feel more comfortable and integrated into the community.

Following the trip, many international students expressed their excitement and appreciation for the local culture, as well as the friendliness and enthusiasm of ISME students. The welcoming and open atmosphere throughout the journey helped eliminate initial barriers and laid the foundation for meaningful friendships and experiences during their upcoming semester.
The Orientation Day concluded with many unforgettable memories. Beyond providing international students with a deeper understanding of Vietnamese culture, the program also established a strong foundation for connection, mutual support, and companionship throughout their academic journey at ISME.
